Custody & Visitation
A Caring and Considerate Southern California Child Custody Lawyer
Of all the issues pertaining to divorce, issues of child custody and visitation are by far the most emotional. These issues and the emotional turmoil they create can continue long after the divorce is completed. This is why we take a slightly different approach to dealing with the potentially emotional aspect of family law, and believe in a holistic approach, advocating reconciliation and family therapy whenever possible. Acceptance of the change to the family dynamic is of utmost importance for children and single parents of divorcing spouses. Attorney Sam Christopher Allevato would like to help you and create an exit plan that is appropriate for your personal needs and in creating a new path for your life ahead.
At Sam Christopher Allevato, Attorney at Law, we try to resolve these matters in a calm and reasoned way that benefits parents and children to the greatest degree possible. We work with you, the opposing counsel and party, and the judge to find fair and reasonable solutions to your child custody and visitation issues.

The Problems Presented By a Relocation or Move-Away
When a custodial parent seeks to relocate with a child it jeopardizes the child’s relationship with the other parent. In some cases, a reasonable solution can be achieved through negotiation between the parties, which enables the other parent to maintain that relationship. A good example of a negotiated relocation solution would be where the child spends summers with the non-custodial parent or when the child is able to “make up” time with the other parent because of geographical preferences of the parents.
If one parent challenges the move, and a solution cannot be worked out in mediation or negotiation, then litigation is almost certain to result. In such cases, the Court must consider the best interests of the child in determining whether or not to grant permission for the relocation. Attorney Sam Christopher Allevato has successfully represented both parents seeking to move children and parents seeking to prevent relocation.
In every case, our office seeks an outcome which is in the best interests of the children but still protects our clients’ rights and interests. Our firm caringly and supportively represents clients throughout most Southern California counties and has represented clients with parents relocating out of the country.
